Chandler Macleod are seeking an experienced Senior Regional Planner to join our client on a full-time, temporary basis until the end of 2024. This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to significant regional planning projects, offering flexibility with a hybrid work arrangement based in Traralgon.
The key responsibilities of the role are:
* Deliver statutory services for the department, including assessment of planning scheme amendments and planning permit applications.
* Provide expert planning advice in a timely manner, considering statutory, political, and legal contexts.
* Prepare and review high-level reports, briefs, and correspondence on complex planning matters.
* Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as government agencies, local governments, and development proponents.
* Support the Manager in resource and workflow management, and mentor less experienced team members.
* Foster a positive, collaborative work environment while contributing to broader team initiatives.
* Ensure cultural safety by promoting inclusive practices within the workplace.
* Perform other duties as required, in line with your skills and capabilities.
To be suitable for this role you will have:
* Tertiary qualification in land use planning or a related field.
* Strong knowledge of the Victorian planning system and demonstrated experience in both statutory and strategic land use planning.
* Experience assessing complex and strategically significant development proposals and planning scheme amendments - highly desireable.
* Valid driver’s licence.
* Ability to develop sustainable solutions and work across multiple government levels.
* Proven experience in negotiating and building stakeholder buy-in.
* Ability to foster collaborative relationships across internal teams and external stakeholders.
* Capable of delivering impactful advice and high-level communication tailored to varied audiences.
* Experience managing complex and competing stakeholder needs while facilitating innovative solutions.
