Applications close 9th December at 9am AEDT Role Introduction We are building a shiny, new, ambitious game and would love to find an experienced senior 3D character concept artist with proven skills and experience in concepting character for 3D stylized games.If concepting characters like those in our first title, Wylde Flowers excites you, and you can bring your experience and passion for creating interesting and 3D-ready character concepts, then we would love to work with you! What you'll be doing Turning expansive character bios into nuanced and interesting 2D character concepts.Working closely with art leadership, the 3D character art team and the narrative team to find the perfect balance between expressive, stylized perfection and feasible characters that fit technical and artistic constraints.Using your deep understanding of anatomy and a good grasp of 3D space, create concrete turn-arounds that capture the key details of the character while considering how it all should fit together in 3D.Knowing the right level of detail to help the team create great 3D models by paying additional attention to the tiny details on your concept such as jewelry or embroidery and clearly showing how they should be represented in the art style on the finished model. Our dream Character Artist Has a passion for storytelling, narrative and character-led games and is willing to pour over character backstories for that one extra detail that makes a character shine.Believes in collaboration and loves working with a team to create the best possible characters by adapting to new ideas and feedback.Is able to work independently with people in significantly different time zones. Knowing when to reach out for help or advice but loves problem solving as well.Has a good grasp on design principles for conveying a character's personality, motives, age, class, interests and background.Is willing to go the extra mile to create characters that are representative of their implied backgrounds, learning from cultural consultants and researching regional and cultural differences.Has proven experience working in a stylized art-style that is still grounded in reality.Believes in kindness and support as a first step to any communication and practices both when giving feedback. This is a full time, fixed-contract and permanently-remote-working position This position is 38 hours a weekWork around your family and personal commitments.Work any hours of the day and week that make sense for you.We generally communicate over Slack or email, with occasional voice/video chat when convenient.You will need to have some reasonable time zone overlap with both Melbourne and the US at the same time. We have a strict policy to not hire in Europe or any time zone where only night work would be possible to achieve that.We'll be trusting you to be self-motivated and able to manage your own time and workload; we won't be micromanaging your task list. Salary This is an 8 month contract position.$120,000 AUD ($85,000 USD) annual base salary plus benefits.
