Job Description
We are seeking casual Youth Workers to assist in the everyday care, growth and development of children and young people who require accommodation and cannot live with family or foster carers.
Primarily, you will work within Individual Placement Arrangements (IPA) for 0-17 year olds, or in our Short Term Emergency Placements (STEP) for 12-17 year olds.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide daily care and support to children and young people
* Develop and implement individual plans to promote their safety and well-being
* Work collaboratively with team members to create a safe and nurturing environment
Requirements:
* Knowledge and understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal communities, societies and cultures in NSW
* Able to advocate on behalf of Aboriginal young people and their families
* Strong connections with Aboriginal agencies to support and strengthen families and cultural connections
Selection Criteria:
* Relevant experience working with vulnerable children and young people
* Ability to work shift work, including sleepovers
* Valid Working with Children Check, Police History Check, First Aid Certificate and Driver's Licence
This position is Level 3 under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010.
