The Royal Hobart Hospital and Department of Health is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for a Staff Specialist - Women’s and Children’s Services vacancy.

The Department of Women’s, Adolescent and Children’s Services is a supportive, coherent, and highly functioning team which is motivated to meet the service needs of our community.
1. Provide services to Acute General Paediatrics including diagnosis, treatment and discharge planning for child and adolescent inpatients including emergency presentations at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH).
2. Conduct outpatient clinics to provide continuity of care for discharged and long term patients.
3. Undertake research in areas relevant to child and adolescent care.
4. Participate in out of hours on call roster for the general paediatric inpatient service.
5. Participate in supervision and teaching of junior medical staff and medical students in the Department of Paediatrics.
6. Participate in such Hospital Committees and administrative matters as required.
7. Participate in continuous quality improvement activities involving service delivery, teaching and research.
8. Observe all Hospital and statutory regulations.
9. Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives, safeguarding practices for vulnerable people, and related training.

Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award
A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.
Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $216,300 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $296,640 with further salary increments available.
1. Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 - $310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award .
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
1. Allowance in lieu of motor vehicle currently set at $28,389 pro rata per annum, paid fortnightly (with CPI indexation on 1 July each year).
2. Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 pro rata per annum.
3. All other allowances as per current Award.
4. And subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of Base salary plus on-call, pro rata of additional payment will be paid from (PPS). If not admitted to the PPS, a 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid.
Other Benefits:

Details of Appointment
Fixed term, full-time* day work, working up to 76 hours per fortnight commencing from 13 May 2025 until 4 July 2025.
*Please note part-time appointments will be considered through negotiation.

1. Holds specialist registration; or
2. Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway; or
3. Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality.
