The role will be based in Melbourne in a new office, the location of which is being finalized. The position is expected to be hybrid. Job Purpose Summary: The candidate will need to be able to originate & identify, evaluate, secure and successfully bring to completion the investment opportunities in Australia. The candidate should be skillful to handle development of both brownfield and greenfield projects and is required to be thoroughly knowledgeable about the Australian power sector market. Additionally, the candidate, in consultation with the Group CBDO's team, is expected to become involved in commercial discussions regarding the existing renewable energy portfolio in Australia. The candidate must have established relationships with pertinent stakeholder groups including IPPs, investors, banks, regulators, off-takers/utilities, and market service providers. The candidate will ensure that potential opportunities, leads, and contacts are suitably communicated to and shared with the Group Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO) and the team members. The candidate will be working closely with the Group CBDO & the core team and will be responsible for all business development activities of the company taking place within Australia. The incumbent will act as the first point of contact with business partners and has a main role in filtering opportunities and identifying technically viable and profitable ones. Demonstrate a proven track record in sourcing and executing power sector investments in the Australian electricity markets, including leading all aspects of the transaction: deal structuring and commercial negotiations, financial valuation, and transaction execution. Moreover, the candidate should be proficient in negotiating key project contracts including connection agreements, EPC, O&M contracts, as well as understanding the legal aspects of the documentation. Continually raise performance standards & performance expectations. Build relationships and establish credibility as a trusted advisor for colleagues and other stakeholders including existing and prospective partners. Research and analyze business trends in the regional markets. Assist in the development and launch of new project opportunities. Structure divisions/departments and organize work; establish priorities; anticipate resources needed and allocate resources when planning the work of others. Education/Experience Requirements: University degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university. A Master's degree in Business Administration is preferred.
