The number of births per annum is around 2880. Antenatal care is provided in both hospital and community sites. We have a Maternity Assessment Unit adjacent to the Birth Unit. The Birth Unit has 8 birth rooms, and the Maternity Ward has 24 beds, a Postnatal Care in the home service and a Lactation service.About the Casual Nursing Bank (CRU)The Casual Nursing/Midwife Bank at Barwon Health is resourced by Registered Nurses, Registered Midwives and Endorsed Enrolled Nurses.The casual nursing/midwife bank is managed by the central resource unit and allows staff to take advantage of shifts at short notice without the commitment of a roster.Staff will be booked into shifts via a matching system that reviews their skills vs vacancies across multiple sites and locations.As a Nurse or Midwife employed by CRU, you will be required to meet the service level agreement of availability: 1 shift per fortnight averaged across a 12-week period.Let us know in your application which areas you are interested in working.As the Registered Nurse or Midwife, you will be responsible for the provision of patient focused holistic nursing care to those assigned to you, in order to achieve desired clinical outcomes.Duties of your role include but are not limited to:Delivering consumer centred care that meets best practice standards and in line with Barwon Health requirementsProviding quality patient care using an evidence-based approachParticipation in regular audit processes to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory bodies is maintainedIn this role you will plan, implement, evaluate and maintain a high standard of midwifery care to achieve desired clinical outcomes. At the same time recognising the needs and acknowledging the dignity, culture and values of all patients and their families. You will empower all people and their families within a service that embraces both continuity of philosophy and consistency of advice and information.
