As a Drone Pilot Mission Commander (known in the Navy as Remote Pilot Warfare Officer), you’ll control drones designed to enhance the ship's situational awareness. You will be detecting and locating surface contacts, gathering information and coordinating with the team to achieve missions.
You’ll operate a variety of Remote Piloted Vehicles at sea and ashore.
Your duties include, but aren’t limited to:
1. Launching, operating, flying and landing drones
2. Gathering intelligence about ship surroundings
3. Patrolling, investigating and surveillance
4. Search and rescue
5. Detecting and interpreting aerial photographs and information from drone sensors and cameras
6. Mission and flight planning
7. Pre-flight procedures and inspections
8. Identifying weather conditions
9. Operating drones within versatile environments and weather
10. Responding to drone faults
11. Conducting post-flight reviews, inspections and maintenance
