Key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to: Completing the full spectrum of employment law work, across the hiring, managing, and firing lifecycle; Work independently with the ability / comfort level to sign off a variety of matters and only seek support / ask questions when helpful (NB: Continuous support and assistance will be there at all times regardless) Completing legal work as delegated, obtained, or required to be completed for ad hoc and retainer clients (including likely becoming the direct contact for one or more retainer clients); Managing client retention – building and maintaining client relationships in line with the team’s strategic plans; Further, participating in any client acquisition and retention strategies and activities on behalf of the Employment + Workplace Relations team; Participate in the development of the team and firm’s strategic plan; and Other duties as would fall within the ambit of the role of a solicitor including any reasonable direction or request of the Employment + Workplace Relations team and/or director. About YouThe ideal candidate:We Are Looking For An Employment Lawyer Ready To Join An Innovative And Compelling Alternative To The Traditional Firm. The Ideal Candidate Will Have previous law firm experience with 6-8 years of employment law experience / background; Be able to work independently in a small team with the ability / comfort level to sign off a variety of matters and only seek support / ask questions when helpful (NB: Continuous support and assistance will be there at all times regardless); Have no ego and be genuinely a nice person to work with; Have experience working with, training up and developing less experienced lawyers in the team; Be able to effectively delegate / provide instructions, and be able to give positive and constructive feedback; Previous experience representing employers (i.e. we generally don’t represent employees); Preferably have litigation experience (Fair Work Commission and Federal Circuit Court – and noting that we generally engage Counsel for any Final Hearings, hence appearance work is limited to earlier stages / conciliations) and enterprise bargaining experience; Have great attention to detail; Have strong communication skills (both verbal and written); and Have the ability to engage effectively with clients.
