Austal Australia is delivering multiple naval shipbuilding and sustainment programs for the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Border Force and the Department of Defence, employing approximately 1,000 people located in Western Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory.
The Opportunity:
As part of the Configuration Management team, the Document Controller will play an integral role managing technical documents, contract deliverables and correspondence for the program. The position provides support with the development of SharePoint, input into LUSI and liaison with key stakeholders within the business.
Key Responsibilities include:
Maintain and manage project documentation, including drawings, specifications, contracts, and reports, ensuring accuracy, version control, and compliance with company standards.
Ensure all documentation aligns with project requirements, industry regulations, and quality management policies.
Identify opportunities to reduce costs or improve data integrity through the application of new processes or technology.
Foster continuous improvement through feedback and adoption of best practices.
Assist in reviews and internal audits of the Technical Data Management System
Coordinate with project teams to ensure timely submission of documents.
Required Skills:
Previous Document Control, Data Entry and Document Management experience preferably in a Marine or Defence environment.
Experience using Product Lifecycle Management Tool (PLM)
Strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently, sound organisational, written, and verbal communication skills.
Understanding of document control process, standards, systems, and processes
Ability to problem solve - Adopts a systematic and logical approach.
Demonstrate drive, initiative, and resilience.
Strong computer literacy with experience in document management systems and business applications including Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Due to the Security Clearance required for this position, applicants must be an Australian Citizen and eligible to obtain and uphold a Baseline Security Clearance through the Australian Department of Defence.
