This role is a unique opportunity to work with some of the Hunter’s best chefs- Executive Chef and part Prince owner Timothy Montgomery and Head Chef Joshua Lips (ex Biota, Subo). Work with the Head Chef and kitchen team to deliver a high level of service and a consistently great quality product Food preparation and plate presentation Working in a fast-paced, high volume restaurant environment Assisting the Head Chef with the training, supervision and motivation of other kitchen staff Influencing and maintaining food costs via portion control, waste minimisation, produce storage and stock control Kitchen maintenance and cleanliness Ensuring safety and sanitisation requirements are delivered by yourself and the team in line with COVID-19 and food safety guidelines About Company We operate two venues in the Newcastle region and are seeking Chefs / Cooks to join our friendly & diverse team. Merewether’s Prince of Wales Hotel, colloquially known as ‘The Prince’, is one of Newcastle’s finest pubs; a constant landmark presence in the community since 1876. and The Maryville Tavern, in Maryville, new to our group, is a favourite with locals. Offering a great atmosphere for a cold drink and some great pub cuisine. Our focus is on the delivery of exceptional modern bistro food and pub classics executed to the highest standards. Proper cooking is what we do, and we pride ourselves in training all of our chefs / cooks in all sections of the kitchen. We are seeking chefs / cooks with 2 years of professional kitchen experience, who love local produce, a dynamic work environment, and those with a discerning benchmark for quality and creativity. Our kitchen creates exceptional dining experiences, whether it’s a Fried Chicken Burger, a Pizza, Kingfish Carpaccio, a Chargrilled Cape Grim Scotch fillet, or a degustation menu and canapés in one of our event spaces.
