A fantastic opportunity has become available for a proactive and enthusiastic person with Manual Machining experience to support our busy Workshop located in Balcatta.
Main responsibilities will include:
* Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers
* Machine parts to specification using machine tools such as lathes, horizontal and vertical borers and milling machines
* Understand bolt torque requirements, machine to fine tolerances, close tolerance and interface fitting
* Measure, examine and test completed units in order to detect and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments
* Set up, adjust and operate all of the basic machining tools, specialised or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations
* Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and material onto machines
* Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
* Work within a team environment complimenting good performance and assist Team Leader/Supervisor in keeping focus on safety, quality and reporting any problems through the correct chain of command
The Successful Candidate will ideally have: (training will be provided for the right candidate)
* Trade qualification required and substantial previous experience competently operating manual lathes, mills and horizontal and vertical borers
* Experience in an engineering environment, workshop, or on-site preferable
* High regard for safety, environmental and PPE requirements
* Must be willing to work overtime and shift work
* Experience in valve repair and troubleshooting desired
* Able to work efficiently and safely with minimum supervision
