Due to growth we have exciting opportunities for experienced Support Workers to join their team. Within this role, you will support people to live day to day while promoting the independence of the person being supported, ensuring that they have maximum opportunity for developing valued lifestyles. The role: Provide personal care support including showering/bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, preparing meals and assist people's physical and mobility requirements. Provide assistance with personal activities such as administration, shopping, banking, attend appointments, performing house duties, washing/ironing and medications support through webster packs. Provide transport support Facilitate community inclusion and participation, dependent on individual needs, abilities and preferences, and support people to establish and maintain relationships and interest through access to community activities, venues and services. Follow care plans and routines/duties/activities in a cooperative, respectful and flexible manner, which are meaningful and purposeful to the individual. Encourage positive and socially appropriate behaviours, and effectively manage challenging behaviour. Promote empowerment and the right of choice for all people in need of support within the community. Acknowledge or reward positive behaviours and ignore unwanted behaviours. Maintain appropriate records of people we support To maintain progress notes, medication charts and other documents as required Work with people being supported, family members and other stakeholders in a collaborative and supportive manner. Respond to incidents and crisis within specified procedures What we are looking for: Relevant qualifications and/or equivalent experience including Certificate in Community Services/Individual Support or similar Flexibility to work rosters between 6am to 10.30pm Spinal cord and Brain injury experience highly desirable Experience in Manual handling, hoists/lifter, Slide sheets favourable A positive attitude and commitment to person centred care Maturity and the ability to understand the varying aspects of the role Well organised and good time management Ability to build relationships with staff and people quickly and confidently Professional, discrete and ability to maintain confidentiality Calm and empathetic nature Resilience Ability to set aside personal beliefs and principles and put the client first Willingness to comply with reasonable directions from management.
