$76,277 - $104,753 + up to 15.4% Superannuation Fishermans Bend - VIC The Role We are seeking a dedicated Chemistry Specialist to contribute to, enhance and report on quality assurance processes and procedures in accordance with our laboratory's NATA accreditation.This role involves ensuring the highest quality standards are employed for our chemical warfare agent verification activities through meticulous testing and analysis.Responsibilities include developing and implementing quality control procedures incorporating laboratory inspections and audits, conducting quality control tests and routine laboratory analysis, and ensuring the integrity of samples and analytical data generated meet reporting requirements.In this role, you will actively contribute to a positive quality culture within a team environment through enhancing quality assurance workflows and training team members as appropriate.Your analytical skills combined with knowledge of accreditation requirements will be critical in identifying and monitoring any quality issues and implementing effective solutions to uphold our commitment to deliver a leading chemical analysis capability for the verification of chemical warfare agents.About our Team The CBRN Defence Major Science and Technology Capability (MSTC) within DSTG's Sensors and Effectors Division drives the application of science and technology to solve problems and deliver solutions for the Australian Government and the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to prevent, counter and mitigate the effects of chemical and biological agents, and radiological and nuclear materials.The Chemical Defence Science and Technology Capability (CD STC) leads the application of chemical sciences to assess, verify, attribute and counter chemical threats.A key role of the CD STC is to operate a suite of chemical laboratories for the synthesis and analysis of highly toxic chemicals, including the Chemical Agents Analysis Facility (CAAF) that is an Organisation for the Prohibition for Chemical Weapons (OPCW)-designated laboratory.Adherence to specific management systems and frameworks for the safe handling, regulatory reporting, and quality assurance is critical to the operation of these sovereign facilities.Our Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate possesses: A degree in chemistry and has extensive experience working in an analytical chemistry laboratory operating under NATA accreditation (ISO17025).Demonstrable ability to develop, enhance and implement practical quality assurance procedures to meet client requirements and in accordance with NATA accreditation requirements.Proficiency in using laboratory instruments, particularly mass spectrometers, and maintaining detailed documentation is essential.Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are vital.We value a proactive mindset and a passion for quality, ensuring every result meets our rigorous standards.Information Pack Opens in new window
