About the business Freight Mart International are market leaders in International Freight Forwarding, Customs, Transport and Third-Party Logistics.About The Role FMI fleet controllers manage the daily running of the fleet by organising the drivers schedule to ensure the timely and safe delivery of customer freight. This involves collecting freight or containerised cargo from the wharf, delivery to the client and de-hire of empty containers. Fleet controllers are the first point of call for both customers and drivers within the transport department.Key Roles and Responsibilities: Arrange the collection of freight and de-hire of shipping containers within the allocated timeframes.Provide the highest level of service to FMI customers.Ensure customers freight is delivered in a safe and timely manner.Ensure drivers allocated to jobs are suitably trained and experienced to complete the task.Ensure drivers are completing prestart checks and their paperwork is correctly filled in each day, this is to include subcontractors.Monitor the use of subcontractors to maintain profitability within the department.Liasing with customers and drivers to build strong relationships.Monitoring and applying for oversize permits where required.Ensuring the fleet is made available for scheduled maintenance in coordination with the transport manager.Monitoring driver fatigue through the review of driver rosters, run sheets and checking breaks have been taken throughout the day.Ensure health and safety policies and procedures are followed.Participate in toolbox meetings with the transport manager and drivers to discuss company, operational and safety matters.Skills & Qualifications: 2+ years of experience within transport operations.
