Position Description and Selection CriteriaThe Communications Officer leads the delivery of communications activities across the Desert Channels Region. This activity focuses on developing and implementing strategic communication and engagement plans for the organisation. This position plays a key role in maintaining the positive reputation and brand of Desert Channels Queensland, ensuring that the organisation is engaging with the target audience at any given time. Strategic Context:To achieve the outcomes required by this role, you must be able to: Work collaboratively with the DCQ team and partners to capture and promote stories from the field in relation to projects, activities and issues Identify and produce timely articles, posts, photos and videos, and communications products to showcase DCQ NRM activities as they relate to programs, projects, issues, events and activities Assist with the production of marketing, promotions and fundraising materials as required Plan, design, develop and implement information and education campaigns on target natural resource management/ environmental issues Use media and partner networks to leverage these stories to achieve greater audience reach and recognition Assist with the design, development and implementation of DCQ's Corporate documents Create regular content for, and maintain DCQ's websites, e-newsletter and social media channels that encompasses the breadth of our work across the region Maintain a professional and knowledge-sharing relationship with communications staff from other NRM organisations Comply with all DCQ policies and procedures Attend DCQ meetings as requested, including presenting key outcomes Specific Workplan Deliverables:The key activities and deliverables for this position are: Support the senior management team in the development, refinement and implementation of Corporate Plans, policies and strategies. Enhance the performance of media channels through content creation and social media campaigns. Support internal staff in delivering project-based communications plans. Enhance DCQ's organisation and brand presence through events, sponsorship, media, marketing and partnerships activities. Maintain respectful and professional conduct and communication. Contribute to a positive culture aligned to the company's mission, objectives and values. Excellent time management skills with the ability to set and meet deadlines. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Education / Qualifications A tertiary qualification or equivalent in a relevant field of Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or Marketing is essential. Applicants should also have demonstrated experience in the development, coordination and delivery of media, marketing and communication products, including the online application of such web-based publishing software applications, Microsoft Software and proficiency in graphic design and associated software is desirable. Demonstrated 'hands on' experience working with limited resources to deliver communication activities which may include events, print and digital publications, annual reports, technical case studies, media releases, website content, social media and digital assets on time and on budget. A general understanding of natural resource management issues impacting the communities of the Desert Channels Queensland region. Demonstrated ability to develop and document innovative projects, identify and seek funding opportunities and to set and deliver specific objectives in collaboration with partners and stakeholders. Demonstrated practical application of community engagement principles as they relate to nature resource management. Demonstrated exceptional organisational skills and time management skills to deliver multiple projects on time and on budget.
