Our client is currently looking for a Procurement Specialist to join their growing team within the local government sector. As a senior member within the team, this role will play a pivotal part in ensuring the success of ongoing and upcoming projects by leading the development and implementation of procurement plans and systems.
Key responsibilities:
1. Managing end to end procurement processes and contracts for a range of council projects and programs
2. Providing sound advice on tender evaluation plans and the management of high risk and complex procurement processes
3. Building and developing relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers
4. Providing training to ensure compliance with contracts, tenders and procurement policies, procedures and systems
5. Refining and improving existing systems and procedures to ensure best practice
6. Developing and presenting reports to management to inform decision making
Desired skills and knowledge:
7. A background in procurement, contract management, commercial finance, legal, or similar
8. Experience working in local council, government, public sector statutory authorities or corporations, utilities or similar is desired
9. Demonstrated stakeholder management and engagement abilities, as well as high level written and verbal communication skills
10. Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
11. An ability and willingness to mentor others
