The role:
1. Carry out assessments, treatments and provide clinical care to individuals referred to the team in collaboration with other team members. This will include the application of a wide range of skills and interventions.
2. Act as a medical and psychiatric resource for other team members.
3. Seek appropriate clinical support and supervision from senior colleagues, the Director or Delegate.
4. Promote and maintain close links with colleagues and service providers to ensure continuity of patient care. Liaise with other community service providers, especially GP’s.

The team:
Department of Health (DoH) are seeking an experienced and dynamic Career Medical Officer who has an interest in perinatal in Mental Health Service. You will be part of a multidisciplinary mental health service delivering high quality mental health care in accordance with Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policies, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies.
Based in Launceston, this role provides a service to the Northern and North-West region of Tasmania.
Launceston is a small and liveable city, just a short flight from Melbourne, where the close proximity of our teams allows you to work collegially. Find yourself a heritage home in the city within walking distance of cafes, culture and Cataract Gorge’s city wilderness, base yourself in a country town or in the Tamar Valley amid vineyards, berry farms and lavender plantations. Launceston hosts a busy University of Tasmania campus, and a vibrant medical community.

5. Fixed Term, full time, day work (with on call)
6. Working 76 hours per fortnight
7. Commencing as soon as possible for two years
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant

Salary:
Medical Practitioner Level 10 - 13 $ 130,332 - $ 160,257 per annum, pro rata + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging
9. Salary range is in accordance with Salaried Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2019
*A new wages agreement has been agreed and is currently being registered in the Tasmanian Industrial Commission. The new rates apply to this position and are effective from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2023
