About the Department:
The Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water (DRMDW) drives growth for Queensland by managing sustainable water resources, leading innovation in manufacturing, and developing our regions. From our offices in Brisbane and a network of regional offices and manufacturing hubs, more than 700 DRDMW staff work to create a Queensland where communities, businesses and water resources are sustainable and resilient.
The Role:
Lead the North Region Water Planning and Science team in the development of innovative management solutions and policy for the development of water plans, water management protocols and other policy relating to the efficient and sustainable management of Queensland's water resources.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Communicate and consult with internal and external clients in the delivery of water planning and science initiatives including facilitating stakeholder input for the development and implementation of water plans.
2. Manage the implementation of the Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islanders communication and engagement to support the development of water plans and other water planning policy.
3. Interpret and apply legislation, specifically the Water Act 2000 and associated subordinate legislation to achieve water planning and management outcomes.
4. Prepare and provide timely and accurate advice on project actions, complex briefs, reports and other policy documentation.
5. Participate in regional and state-wide project teams to progress water business objectives.
6. Represent the department in a range of insightful community and water user forums.
About You:
7. Experience leading a dynamic team in water resource management and water planning.
8. Exceptional relationship building and stakeholder engagement skills.
9. Well-developed analytical skills to interpret policy and review reports.
10. There are no mandatory requirements for this role, however travel away from the centre will be required outside of normal office hours.
