In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's civil/structural aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil/structural components and processes. Your technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project's civil/structural aspects are met. Major Responsibilities: Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the civil engineering work. Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates Civil components. Designs structures using advanced knowledge of civil engineering in the areas of hydrology, hydraulics, road design and pavement design, geotechnical and earthworks. Originates and checks complex civil engineering deliverables. Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements. Analyzes and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques and/or difficult coordination requirements. Prepares or assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change orders. Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals. Coordinates civil engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction, and other functional groups. Prepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations. Provides technical assistance to other Civil personnel and interacts with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues. Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project Civil/Structural requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution. Mentors and assists more junior Civil/Structural team members. Education and Experience Requirements: Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience. Required Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrated experience as a Civil Engineer, preferably within mining and metals industry. Considered highly skilled and proficient in Civil Engineering discipline. Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization, resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways. Able to be registered as an RPEQ, or already registered as RPEQ is preferable. Working Rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required.
