About the Role We are currently seeking an experienced Machine Shop Leading Hand to join our Workshop based team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination of our multi-disciplined crew, working in our workshop located in Naval Base.
Key Responsibilities Supervision of machine shop, including routine and breakdown maintenance and repairs.
Site visits maybe required.Coordinate and delegate work to crews.
Ensuring that all administrative requirements such as approval of work crews time sheets and job number assigning; are completed on time and accurately.Check and submit all job documentation for processing.Organise material, labour and equipment to ensure efficiency;Implement and/or complete any corrective action that has been issued in a timely fashion;Comply with all safety, environment and quality requirements and contribute to a safe work environment.Overall supervision of the workshop machining/mechanical team consisting of trades people, apprentices and trade assistants.Carrying out dimensional checks.Liaising with the Operations Manager to ensure workflow and production targets are met.Ensuring that all products leaving the workshop conform to the company quality standards.Oversee the training of apprentices.Maintain safe work areas and practices at all times.Ensure all equipment and machinery are regularly maintained.Develop a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Skills and Experience 5+ years' experience in a similar role;Drivers License;Ability to work unsupervised;Ability to pass a pre-employment medical;Right to work in Australia;Forklift licence;Trade QualificationStrong background in mechanical fitting and machining.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Time management and organizational skillsGood knowledge and understanding of safe work practices.
