Position Overview:
We seek a passionate and enthusiastic individual to join the Kiama Anglican Churches (KAC) team as a part-time Children’s and Youth Worker. This role is vital in supporting the spiritual growth and development of children and youth within our church community, primarily during our 10am and Families@4 services.
The ideal candidate will be dedicated to creating engaging and meaningful programs for children and youth, fostering an exciting and comfortable environment where young individuals can explore and grow in their faith.
We are looking for someone to start at the beginning of term 1, 2025.
Responsibilities:
1. Program Planning
Assist in planning and organising activities, lessons, and events for children and youth programs to be conducted during 10am and Families@4. Collaborate with the ministry leadership team to develop age-appropriate curriculum and resources that align with KAC’s values, teachings and sermon programs.
2. Program Implementation
Lead and facilitate children and youth programs during 10am, including Bible lessons, games, crafts, and discussions. Assist Families@4 kids leadership team with children and youth programs, including Bible lessons, games, crafts, and discussions. Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by adhering to church policies and procedures.
3. Child Safety Compliance
Maintain compliance with child protection regulations and guidelines at all times.
4. Leadership and Training
Provide leadership, support and guidance to volunteer leaders and assistants involved in children and youth programs at KAC.
5. Collaborative Environment
Work collaboratively with the ministry leadership team, church wardens, and parish council to ensure the integration of children and youth programs with the overall vision and mission KAC. Participate in team meetings, discussions, and planning sessions to contribute ideas and insights for enhancing ministry effectiveness.
6. Additional Scope
As this ministry grows (and if initially employed at the upper end of the number of hours) involvement with SRE in the local school, the running of kids’ clubs and working with our playgroup are possible additional responsibilities.
Position Requirements:
Required
1. Strong personal faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to the values and principles of KAC.
2. Willingness to undergo background checks and obtain necessary certifications for working with children.
3. Pursuing or possessing relevant qualifications in children’s or youth ministry, theology, education, or a related field.
4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with children, youth, parents, and volunteers.
5. Experience working with children and/or youth in a church or similar setting.
6. Experience in teaching or leading children’s programs, whether in a church setting, school, or other educational environments.
7. Experience in developing engaging, age-appropriate activities lessons, and programs that capture children’s interest and imagination.
