The Border Express Albury or Melbourne branches are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 1 to 3 years of experience in SQL database design, security configuration, implementation, administration, maintenance, and query performance optimisation.
Duties:
Configure, upgrade, maintain, and monitor the Border Express SQL Server and reporting environment to ensure high performance, availability, and security. Develop and execute capacity planning, monitoring, archiving, and database management strategies aligned with Border Express's current and future storage needs. Perform ongoing SQL maintenance, including backups, consistency checks, disaster recovery (DR), security, and index optimization, following industry best practices. Conduct scheduled maintenance and support after-hours release deployments as required. Configure and maintain proactive alerting systems to automatically notify the technology team of critical database issues. Create, upgrade and optimize SQL databases and database functions to enhance performance and efficiency. Design, implement, and manage data replication processes. Maintain comprehensive documentation, including data standards, procedures, troubleshooting guides, and a data dictionary. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support application development, server maintenance, and incident resolution. Skills and Experience:
1 to 3 years of recent experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role. Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Hands-on experience with SQL Server database configuration, monitoring, storage management, indexing, query execution optimization, and SQL replication. Experience working in an enterprise cluster environment is advantageous. Strong knowledge of backup and recovery strategies, along with familiarity with database monitoring tools. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and quickly adapt to new concepts. Get to know Border Express:
