The Role
Defence Mobility is seeking a motivated and high performing individual to lead our technical engineering team in delivering Mobile ICT capability to Defence. This role is ideal for someone who has a good understanding of technical elements of mobile ICT technologies, with a can-do approach and a desire to grow their career in a technical engineering stream. You will be working with a supportive, skilled and diverse team dedicated to the delivery and support of Defence’s ICT mobility capability and will be supported in training and development to complement your current, relevant skills. As an APS 6 ICT Support Engineer, you will:
* Lead a team of engineers to manage in-house iOS application development, packaging, testing and deployment;
* Manage document governance for complex mobile applications using supplied specifications, standards and tools;
* Liaise with stakeholders such as application developers and system owners to understand and assist with application development to meet technical requirements;
* Manage the release of Defence public mobile applications by assisting with the packaging, signing and submitting to the Apple and Google application stores;
* Manage mobile application vetting including preparing security assessment reports, seeking relevant approvals and implementing the respective deployment on various mobility systems;
* Manage testing of mobility system updates, new mobile operating systems, new mobile devices, preparing assessment reports, seeking relevant approvals and deploying on various mobility systems;
* Co-ordinate the research, collation and recommendation of options for a solution to issues or capability improvements to achieve desired outcomes.

The Defence Mobility Team is responsible for providing Mobility capability to Defence. This includes mobile phones, tablets, laptops, mobile applications, remote access solutions and mobile communication services across the various security classifications whether that be standalone or network connected. It is our mission to deliver leading edge sovereign capability to support Defence’s mission. Our Ideal Candidate
To be successful in this role you will:
Employment with the Department of Defence is subject to conditions prescribed within the Public Service Act 1999.
* Have experience in leading a team of technical specialists to provide outputs in line with business requirements.
* Have experience in technical tasks such as patching, troubleshooting, configuring and testing;
* Have experience with any mobile application development language (i.e. Swift or any other coding language), deployment to in-house and public app store;
* Be able to work in a fluid environment by remaining flexible and working with multiple stakeholders;
* Have excellent verbal and written communications skills.
