We are currently recruiting for the following position/s: Hydrographic, Electronic and Data Technical Assistant - Hobart We will teach you the how, you will bring the enthusiasm!
What you'll do: This is a new role in our Water Management Team where you will learn how to provide operational support to the team in the day-to-day collection of hydrological, meteorological, environmental, and asset monitoring data services.
You will be supported with on-the-job and formal technical training to ensure you are an integral member of the team.
You will be provided with professional development opportunities so you can work towards becoming a certified practicing hydrographer with the Australian Hydrographers Association.
What will your week look like?
If you like variety and being outside keep reading.
Each week will be a bit different, so you will need to be a bit flexible, some weeks could include multiple days in the field carrying and using hydrographer monitoring equipment.
Other weeks would consist of inputting the data collected back at the Moonah office or assisting with preparation of future installations.
You will get to travel the state so you need a driver's licence, and you will always be working with at least one other person when in the field, so you have amazing opportunities to learn from dedicated mentors.

You might also be studying within the civil, water, electrical or mechanical fields at university or TAFE.
You have experience working outdoors in a range of weather conditions such as a wildlife guide, bushwalking or other construction work.
You will need to demonstrate an appropriate level of fitness enabling you to embrace and enjoy the outdoor work you would do.
Confidence around water and ability to swim.
Willingness to complete a Cert IV Water Resources or Civil Engineering or Electronics at TAFE.
Construction White Card or willingness to complete the 1-day training to get it.
If you have done any of the following, we also want to know about it: 4WD experience Experience using hand tools or power tools Ability to work with a team that relies on each other in the field.
