What you'll be doing
The paediatric Speech Pathology team is based at Port Macquarie Community Health Centre and provide a valuable outreach service to neighbouring communities including Wauchope, Camden Haven and Kempsey, with flexibility to work across the entire Hastings-Macleay Clinical network. This temporary position is to provide cover for the next 12 months during a secondment, with potential for extension at the end of the contract.
Working in consultation with the Senior Speech Pathologist in Charge and multi-disciplinary team to practise and promote safe, efficient and effective paediatric Speech Pathology services that reflects current standards of Speech Pathology practices and current Mid North Coast Local Health District policies and procedures. Contribute to service development by identifying, leading and evaluating quality improvement projects and providing professional supervision and support to junior staff.
The Senior Speech Pathologist provides person-centred evidenced based assessment/interventions, health promotion and education for infants, children and young people with arrange of communication disorders and complex development needs.
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine, which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course).
New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) immunisation history statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

1. Bachelor or post graduate degree in Speech Pathology or equivalent and eligibility for practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
2. Demonstrated high level skills in time management and organisation.
3. Demonstrated ability and commitment to effectively working in relevant multidisciplinary and speech pathology teams
4. Demonstrated high quality communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with proven ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
5. Current unencumbered Driver's Licence valid to drive in NSW
