For more information about King’s College visit: https://www.kings.uq.edu.au/ ABOUT THE ROLE The Associate Director of Academic & Career Development (ADACD) will assist the Director of Academic & Career Development in the daily operations of the Learning Centre, and high-level advisory support to students. In addition, the ADACD will take a lead role in careers and professional development-related projects, including the continued implementation of a comprehensive mentorship program and systems for the promotion of employment opportunities. The role is required to develop and maintain effective relationships with students, other members of College Administration Staff, University personnel, the King’s Old Collegians’ Association (KOCA), industry professionals and other relevant stakeholders. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Reporting to the Director of Academic & Career Development, the duties and responsibilities of the ADACS role include, but are not limited to: Implement and maintain an effective system for the promotion and creation of professional development opportunities (e.g. paid/unpaid work, internships, volunteer experience etc.) to current and Old Collegians, and act as the main contact for careers-related matters at the College. Project manage the implementation of a comprehensive mentorship program in collaboration with College Staff and external stakeholders including KOCA, Professional Industry bodies, and University staff. Establish a streamlined approach for collecting and managing data of current and Old Collegians for academic and careers-related events, including Society events. Effectively manage and utilise College and university systems and databases to ensure information is current Assist with the coordination and management of academic support staff, programs, and services (e.g. Tutorial Program, Scholarships). Assist with the implementation of strategies and support systems for students struggling academically. Provide in-depth analysis of data and create relevant reports associated with King’s academic and careers programs. Remain abreast of changes to university and program policies and procedures. Attend and assist with King’s events and functions (e.g. P & O-Week and Enrolment/Open Day). Attend events and meetings in the absence of the Director of Academic & Career Development. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Academic & Career Development. REMUNERATION The Associate Director of Academic & Career Development is a part-time or full-time (by negotiation), fixed-term position for 3 years at Professional HEW Level 7 (equivalent). SELECTION CRITERIA Essential: A passion for and interest in the development of young adults during the transition to University, College life, and to the workforce. Willingness to be immersed in the culture and endeavours of the College. Completion of an undergraduate degree or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Recent experience working with and advising diverse student cohorts on a broad range of university-related policies and procedures, as they relate to the student-life cycle. Advanced technical skills, including competency with Microsoft Office programs (especially Excel). Experience gathering and analysing data to produce reports. Demonstrated project/event management experience. Including a proven track record of managing multiple complex projects/tasks at one time. High-level written and oral communication skills. Commitment to the ethos of a Uniting Church Residential College. Desirable: Knowledge of and experience within the higher education sector, preferably within a student services/administration or careers/employability setting. Experience in helping young people transition into the workforce. Experience in leading/managing a team. Experience working with/in (or living in) Residential Colleges.
