Our Tamworth (NSW) geotechnical laboratory is currently seeking Entry Level Technician/s with a keen interest in learning, long-term employment, onsite training, guaranteed career path, and the opportunity to complete a company-funded Certificate 3 in Laboratory Skills and beyond (up to Advanced Diploma) as time progresses.
About the Role As an Entry-Level Technician, you will be supervised by senior staff and instructed by the Laboratory Manager. The position will require you to assist in soil, aggregate, and concrete preparation practices, basic laboratory testing, and assisting our field technicians on local construction projects and quarry sampling. Laboratory preparation and site sampling across our full scope of accreditation for materials testing in accordance with AS1289, AS1012 & AS1141.
From preparing samples in the laboratory to testing on major infrastructure projects to managing a laboratory, we are dedicated to fostering a culture of integrity, diligence, and high performance, as we understand the critical role that materials testing plays in ensuring successful construction outcomes. Our clients trust us to provide them with the peace of mind they need to manage construction risk effectively.
Duties required of the role: Assist in soil preparation practices, basic laboratory testing, field sampling in a timely manner Prepare samples for processing and laboratory testing Work and communicate in a team environment Ensure an excellent quality of standard is always maintained Enthusiasm and motivation with the ability to work unsupervised whilst upholding safety, quality, and company policy standard Exceptional attention to detail Communication with both the internal and external stakeholders Report any non-conforming works in line with company policy and procedures Continually strive to achieve improvement within the role and the company To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess: Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel) Ability to lift heavy loads for extended hours (repeatably) Mathematical aptitude Strong communication and problem-solving skills Reliability and punctuality Ability to follow work practices and testing procedures Willingness to learn and undertake formal training (company provided) Current driver's license Ability to pass drug and alcohol screening Construction Blue card/white card Why work for GSG Laboratories?
