Our Commonwealth Government client is seeking to engage multiple Senior Legal Officers at the EL1 level to join their Commercial Law Section. The successful candidates will provide specialist advice in relation to commercial negotiations, procurement, technology, air and marine projects, leasing, construction and intellectual property.
An initial 6 to 12-month non-going APS contract (with possible extension) is on offer. We will also consider s26 transfers (temporary or permanent) for existing APS employees.
These roles are based in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, with flexible working arrangements considered on a case-by-case basis.
Please note: only Australian citizens with the ability to obtain/maintain a Baseline security clearance can be considered for this role.
Duties:
* Provide commercial legal advice, and draft contractual documents for the procurement and delivery of major and strategic projects
* Liaise with, and actively maintain working relationships across the Legal Group, the wider Department and with external stakeholders
* Maintain detailed knowledge of specific legislation, case law, directions, instruments, principles and issues of relevance to the Department
* Supervise junior lawyers and manage a team
Requisite skills/experience:
* Tertiary qualifications in law and admission as a legal practitioner required
* Demonstrated experience in commercial law, either in government or in private practice providing advice to government
* Strong research, and written and verbal communication skills
* An ability to work effectively with stakeholders
* Demonstrated ability to mentor and support other legal professionals.
