Team Leader – Quick ResponseThe OpportunityTo efficiently operate a range of Council rigid trucks and road plant and undertake labouring tasks to meet required standards on maintenance and construction projects.About UsBanana Shire is situated in Central Queensland, Australia located 120 km west of the growing industrial city and port of Gladstone - and an easy drive to the city of Rockhampton.Our population is approximately 15,000 people spread over 28,577 square kilometres. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvide leadership to the quick response team, whilst assisting the Coordinator with project planning resource availability, and monitoring Provide high quality specialist plant operation services including road construction and maintenanceMaintain a high standard and consistent approach with the usage of all Council’s plantMaintain and service plant and equipment on a daily basis, in accordance with operating proceduresProvide support in the operation of other plant and equipment, as requiredCarry out general labouring duties as required(including but not limited to signs, pothole and guidepost maintenance)Maintain a daily diary of plant movementsRead and interpret basic plans and instructionsUndertake traffic control and implement traffic management plans as requiredLiaise with workplace representative and employees to continuously improve work practicesContribute to the promotion of the image of the Council and the maximisation of good public relationsLiaise with clients, other Council staff, the public, consultants, utility and government authorities in the performance of duties including providing and obtaining informationUndertake routine administrative tasks and electronic devices, as required by the position eg. Timesheets, risk assessments, Apps, REFLECT, recoverAssist senior staff to continuously improve work processes and develop new practices as requiredParticipate in training, exercises and response to disaster management and recovery as requiredUndertake other relevant duties as directed, consistent with skills, competence and trainingQUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND LICENCE REQUIREMENTSCompulsory Current Qld drivers licence Qld Construction White Card or Blue Card (General Safety Induction) • Certificate of Competency – Backhoe Implement Traffic Management Plans (ITMP) Qualification – Or willingness to obtainTraffic Control Licence – Or willingness to obtain DesirableOther plant ticketsCurrent Qld Class HC drivers licence (or willingness to obtain) ABILITIES, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED Compulsory Experience in the effective operation of Backhoe within a maintenance or construction infrastructure environment.Good literacy, numeracy and oral communication skills and ability undertake Learning and Development opportunities as requiredDemonstrated ability to work in a team environment under minimal supervision. Sound understanding of and commitment to EEO and WHS principles and practices.
