Job Description
Probation Officers play a vital role in protecting the community by supervising offenders on community-based orders, addressing offending behaviours, providing opportunities for rehabilitation, and ensuring offenders comply with court orders.
They work closely with various stakeholders, including the Courts, Parole Board, Tasmania Prison Service, and Tasmania Police, to achieve these goals.
Main Responsibilities
* Conduct interviews, home visits, and assessments of offenders to provide accurate and timely advice to the Courts and Parole Board.
* Identify and explore offending behaviours to assist offenders in reducing the risk of re-offending.
* Assess offender risk and needs, develop individual management plans, and refer offenders to appropriate programs.
* Maintain accurate offender case notes and records, engage offenders, and liaise with stakeholders.
* Prepare documentation and take action to deal with breaches of community-based orders, including attending court when required.
Requirements
* Award/Classification: Tasmanian State Service Award - General Stream Band 4
* $83,011.00 to $95,547.00 per annum
* Permanent, full-time employment
* Flexible working arrangements available
* Hours per fortnight: 73.50 hours
