You will be responsible for Westpac PNG's compliance with local money laundering and financial crime laws and regulations.
This role will ensure Westpac PNG meets all applicable financial crime regulatory obligations and has adequate and effective systems and controls designed to ensure compliance.
You will own Westpac PNG's local financial crime policies and standards and analyze, assess, and report on Westpac PNG's AML and financial crime risks.
You will be responsible for providing financial crime reporting to the Westpac PNG Board and other Risk, Management and Governance bodies, including Westpac Group.
You will also investigate internal reports and/or suspicious matters and submit timely suspicious activity reports to the Financial Analysis and Supervision Unit (FASU) or respond to requests for information from relevant Regulatory authorities.Other key responsibilities will include:Assist with the implementation of Westpac PNG and Westpac Group Financial Crime strategy, evaluate opportunities, resolve critical financial crime business issues and develop appropriate solutions while adopting a continuous improvement approach.Assist with the development and implementation of financial crime compliance frameworks and solutions for all financial crime compliance requirements.Ensure that all business units have effective systems and controls to meet their financial crime compliance obligations.Provide authoritative advice on financial crime matters.Discuss issues, develop an integrated approach to financial crime compliance and ensure alignment across lines of business and projects.Liaise with Regulatory authorities, including FASU and other applicable enforcement agencies, as required.
Liaise with Industry bodies and remain aware of emerging issues and trends to determine appropriate group policy position.Drive strong relationships with external partners, vendors, and consultants to define and manage appropriate service levels, maximize the customer experience and drive maximum benefit across the value chain.Drive and maintain a strong risk culture with a relentless focus on initiatives to strengthen the control environment.Assess, manage and optimize risk to ensure that financial goals are met within agreed risk appetite levels.What do I need?To be successful in this role you will have working knowledge of local, regional and international financial crime regulation, including operational requirements gained through extensive experience in financial crime compliance, preferably with Pacific markets.
You will have a broad understanding of corporate and retail banking products and processes, systems and policies.
You will have demonstrated regulator and senior stakeholder management experience, with strong and effective communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
