Senior Manager, Climate Analytics Job Description Senior Manager, Climate Analytics • Permanent • Sydney • Hybrid working model How will I help? This is a key role which will support the development and implementation of improved climate risk measurement across the Group. In this role you will support analysis of the potential impact of physical and transition risks, delivering insights that inform strategy and risk management decision-making. You will work closely with stakeholders across the Group and external partners in helping to ensure a market-leading approach to the Group's climate risk measurement and management approach. Reporting to the Head of ESG Risk, you will support the Executive Manager, Climate Analytics to deliver the objectives of the Climate Analytics team. Responsibilities include but not limited to. Support the development and execution of climate risk measurement priorities: work with colleagues across Risk, Business Units and Group Sustainability to prioritise climate analyses to understand physical and transition risks. Climate analysis: developing analytical techniques to translate global climate scenarios into potential impacts and implications to the Group. For example: Acute physical risk and opportunities: Analyse the risks to physical assets (e.g. mortgages) arising from an increased frequency and/or severity of physical perils. Chronic physical risk and opportunities: Analyse the impact of long-term changes in weather patterns to our customers (e.g. agricultural productivity). Transition risks and opportunities: assess the impact to credit portfolios of changes in policies, technologies and markets. What's in it for me? To be successful you will have 5 years' experience working in financial services and have experience working in a climate related role. This may include experience in a consulting or professional services capacity. Knowledge of climate risk measurement and familiarity with global best practices in sustainability. Exceptional quantitative analysis and/or coding skills. Experience in risk quantification in the insurance or banking industry, such as executing climate stress testing or scenario analysis programs for a financial institution, estimating the impact of extreme weather-related events to real estate assets and calculating expected credit losses to lending portfolios under different economic scenarios. Ability to extract key business and risk insights from complex data analysis and communicate them clearly and concisely to senior management. Exceptional conceptual and analytical skills, evident business acumen and excellent verbal and written communication capability with an ability to manage multiple stakeholders with differing views. Lastly a relevant tertiary qualification in Mathematics, Physics, Physical Sciences, Economics, Finance or other relevant field. What's it like to work there?
