We are looking for a Model Supervisor who reflects the innovative spirit, creative talent, collaborative mindset and passion for great filmmaking that define ILM.The Model Supervisor provides project supervision and direction for a team of artists who create the desired models, ensuring that they are created and rendered according to the designs and visual style of the project.In partnership with the Head of Department, this position serves as a role model and mentor for the modelling team, with the objective of fostering a collaborative team environment, and producing high-quality imagery.Main Responsibilities: Manages their time effectively across multiple projects, being capable of delegating, acting as a catalyst for ideas and directly leading asset modelling when required.Working in collaboration and under the direction of the VFX Supervisor and Head of Department, the Model Supervisor is responsible for the supervision, quality control, and delivery of models for CG assets, ensuring that they will satisfy the style and quality of the productions.Consult with the VFX Supervisor, CG Supervisor, Head of Department and Leads to assess the technical feasibility of elements in the designs and implement production friendly workflows that will maintain the vision of the film.Responsible for bidding the work on multiple projects and driving the overall modelling schedule, and balancing artistic and productivity requirements in tandem with production management, Head of Department and Leads.Be aware of the impact creative decisions have on a show's schedule & budget, and be willing to change the creative choices, when possible, to stay on schedule budget.Know the limitations of their knowledge (e.g., technical, aesthetic, client-handling skills, etc.) and seek expert advice / escalate when appropriate.Attend their relevant show production and team meetings to promote effective communication throughout the show production team.Work directly with the Head of Department, Model Leads and CG Supervisors to manage troubleshooting and technical efforts in pipeline workflow development.In collaboration with the Supervisors, Production and Leads, assign project work to modelling artists based on their individual skills and strengths, as needed.Contribute to the documentation for tools and processes.Test new tools and offer feedback to the developers.Work in collaboration with Talent Team and Head of Department to: Foster a respectful and cooperative dynamic within the team.Demonstrate empathy and understanding to different experiences and backgrounds to foster new perspectives and ideas.Empower team members to collaborate inclusively and build community and a sense of belonging.Serve as a role model and mentor for and within the department.Assist the Head of Department in the design and execution of training for the Modeling discipline.Review the work of each modelling artist on a regular basis.Collaborate with the Talent manager and Head of Department with the employee review process, providing input on skills, productivity, and career development.Participate in the recruiting and staffing of the modelling team by assessing the work of prospective candidates throughout the hiring process.Collaborate with Recruiting, Talent Management and Head of Department on hiring decisions, as needed.Aid the Head of Department and Talent in providing performance feedback, facilitating overall team building efforts, and maintaining positive morale amongst the crew.Required knowledge, experience and skills: Must be a skilled decision maker, problem solver, and an exceptional communicator.Proven leadership abilities and ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse skill sets.Collaborative, team-player attitude: open and receptive to new ideas, constructive criticism, direction and changes.Must have exceptional time management, organisational and delegation skills.Bidding and scheduling experience is preferred.Expert knowledge and experience in Maya across Organic, Hard Surface, Environmental and conceptual tasks.Expert knowledge and experience in Zeno for asset management, face shapes and shot based sculpting.Expert knowledge and experience in managing and processing photographic and scan data reference materials.Proficiency in Zbrush, or equivalent sculpting software required.Proven experience as a lead on 4+ shows.Experience in 3 D CG for digital animation or visual effects film is preferred.Proficiency with LINUX/UNIX is required.Must have an extremely creative and critical eye for guiding the quality of the asset.Technical expertise in other disciplines, such as Houdini and scripting, is a plus.This position is with Lucasfilm Entertainment Company Ltd.LLC,
