We are currently seeking applications for Intensive Foster Care Youth Workers to join our Foster and Kinship teams located in the Rockhampton, Gladstone and Bundaberg regions in a casual capacity.
The Intensive Foster Care Youth Worker is responsible for ensuring that the young people are safe and that their welfare and wellbeing needs are met, while working towards planned goals for either the young person, the carer or the carer household. This role directly supports the day-to-day routine of children and carers in the Intensive Foster Care program, providing quality, safe care and guidance within their home and the community.
The role involves working with children and young people (CYP) who have diverse developmental, behavioural, and psychological needs, as well as their families, carers, and support teams. It focuses on providing support through coaching, mentoring, training, and modelling, while also facilitating and coordinating available resources and services.
About you:
* Demonstrated experience in developing and building positive rapport with a range of stakeholders, including community members, young people, carers, and fellow staff.
* Experience in working with indigenous communities and culturally diverse people and communities.
* Understanding or direct experience in child protection or similar industry.
* Knowledge of complex trauma, neglect and other factors related to why children and young people are placed in out of home care.
* Passion for helping young people and driving positive outcomes.
* Knowledge and experience working with young people with cognitive, social, developmental, and behavioural needs.
* Demonstrated commitment to achieving positive outcomes for young people using a valuing and strengths-based approach.
The Intensive Support Youth Worker will:
* Cert IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention or;
* Hold another recognised qualification such as Cert IV in Youth Work, Cert IV in Community Services or similar, or;
* Be in the process of completing a relevant Certificate IV (mandatory).
* Have a high level of drive, life experience or personal commitment to the role and seek to undertake further learning and development to enhance your skills and competency.
* Demonstrate ability to work within legislation, regulations, quality and statutory standards.
* Be able to work collaboratively within a team, under management authority.
* Have professional integrity and discretion.
* Have a current driver license as transportation is required for appointments and various activities.
