An exciting opportunity exists for a talented and skilled individual to join the Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC) as Senior Project and Secretariat Adviser at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
The Senior Project and Secretariat Officer plays a pivotal role in driving the Commission's strategic agenda. This position is responsible for leading and supporting key projects and initiatives, while providing comprehensive secretariat support to the Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, and Commissioners.
A core function of this position is to lead regular Commissioner meetings, manage projects, and provide governance support. This involves coordinating meetings, preparing written documents such as briefings, reports, and papers for stakeholders, and offering general support to Commissioners. The role also requires strong governance skills to aid in the development and implementation of policies and protocols.
Stakeholder engagement is essential to support the Commission's legislated mandate in advising the government and assisting Victoria's multicultural communities. The role involves responsibilities for data analysis and the development of responsive, evidence-based policy proposals. These proposals should build on your analysis, address evolving community needs, and align with the VMC's core responsibilities and priorities as outlined in the Multicultural Victoria Act 2011.
The successful candidate will exhibit strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, analytical, conceptual, and strategic planning skills. The role demands the ability to translate community information and feedback into high-quality submissions, reports, presentations, briefings, and other written advice to the government regarding services, policies, and programs affecting Victoria's diverse communities. Additionally, the position involves managing VMC data, information, and communications technology, and, when appropriate, supporting external research partnerships. Collaboration with the broader DPC and Multicultural Affairs team will also be an essential aspect of the role.

1. Proven expertise in providing high-level governance and secretariat support to senior executives, with a strong understanding of financial literacy.
2. Demonstrated understanding of Victoria's multicultural communities and the ability to communicate effectively across cultures.
3. Demonstrated experience in policy analysis and coordination processes to inform the development of policies and programs.
4. Proven stakeholder management skills with the ability to manage critical relationships and negotiate with and influence a diverse stakeholders group.
5. Highly developed planning and project management skills, including ability to lead comprehensive planning activities and manage projects effectively.
6. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality briefs, reports and presentations.
