Technical Buyer - Operations Procurement

Positioned at Komatsu Mining Technologies' Parkhurst workshop, this role looks after the purchasing of non-inventory items that keeps our workshops and whole of site running efficiently. These include purchases such as utilities and facilities management services as well as technical parts and subcontract technical work essential for manufacturing our underground mining equipment.
The technical buyer is a stand-alone site-based position, reporting to the Operational Procurement Manager. It works closely with our planners, workshop staff, vendors, and specialists to provide products on time and at the best price to support the business in achieving their goals of quality, reliability, and customer focus.

Responsibilities
1. Technical sourcing of non-fixed scope requirements.
2. Manage indirect supply base to provide technical parts and services to support the business.
3. Select suppliers of the highest level of performance and quality to match Komatsu business needs.
4. Review purchases and investigate sources of supply to ensure lowest cost supply to Komatsu and developing alternatives if required.
5. Proactive analysis of purchasing data, lead times, repair lifecycles, opportunities, and risks.
6. Prepare reports and manage a complex level of priorities and demands.
7. Monitor vendor performance to fulfil KPIs.
8. Exceed customer expectations.
Requirements
1. SAP experience highly regarded.
2. Previous experience in procurement and/or supply chain, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
3. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings highly regarded.
4. Experience with computer-based inventory control systems.
5. Strong customer focus, administration and communication skills.
6. Strong attention to detail.
