About the job:
KWY are currently seeking a practitioner that advocates and supports Kinship Carers who have Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children placed in their care by the Department for Child Protection. The length of a child’s placement is determined by the court order, reunification (approx. 12 months), or long-term orders (until the child reaches 18 years of age).
The KWY Kinship Care practitioner can conduct home/outreach visits, relevant assessments, facilitate training, write reports as required, attend multidisciplinary meetings, keep accurate and timely case notes and communications, and advocate for Kinship Carers in a variety of settings. The practitioner aims for children and young people to feel safe and supported. The practitioner achieves this by supporting carers to connect children to their culture, kin, and identity. The practitioner works with Government agencies and external service providers to support Kinship Carers to meet the children’s developmental needs.
The role can entail intrastate case management and travel to the Far North, Eyre and Yorke Peninsula, Limestone Coast.
The position is located at the KWY Port Lincoln office.
About you:
The successful applicant will possess 2 years of skills, experience, and knowledge working in kinship or foster care programs or equivalent experience. You can demonstrate safe cultural practices when collaborating with Aboriginal people and community. Your approach is strength-focused, through a cultural lens listening to the voice of carers and children.
About the pay:
* Positions are classified under the SCHADS award
* Salary range is $85,120 to $91,586 plus superannuation (full-time equivalent)
* The position is Full Time or Part Time negotiable

Other requirements:
* Minimum certificate 4 in related fields of social work
* National Criminal History Record Check (Police Clearance).
