The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of 9 centres that provide a range of services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people, and their careers. Our services range from health promotion, prevention, and early detection through to assessment, treatment, and continuing care. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people’s homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth). The NBMLHD Child and Family occupational therapy team provides assessment and a range of interventions for children aged up to 8 years, with mild developmental issues or learning difficulties in Community Health Centres across the Penrith and Blue Mountains LGAs. The team works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including speech pathology, physiotherapy, counselling, and nursing disciplines. This position is to provide paediatric occupational therapy services for children and their families. The Occupational Therapist Level 3 will provide a specialist occupational therapy service, including triaging and prioritisation of clients following referral. The succesful incumbent will work autonomously with minimal direct supervision and using independent professional judgement. What you will bring to the role: Evidence of advanced clinical skills and demonstrated significant experience in the provision of occupational therapy services to children and their families. Demonstrated high level organisation and time management skills in an environment with competing clinical and administrative demands. Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes with other staff. Demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical supervision, mentoring and development of level 1 / 2 staff and students. Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including collaborative stakeholder consultation. Demonstrated ability to independently problem solve and set priorities in complex situations. Current driver's licence and willingness to use for work purposes. Current Authority to Practice as an Occupational Therapist with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
