AWX Executive are seeking mid-senior level Communication Advisors to join our large government client on a long-term contract up to June 2028. The positions available include Senior Communications Advisor and Communications Officer. Both roles are in Sunshine Coast.
The Roles
Senior Communications Advisor
* Develop and lead strategic communications plans to support project objectives, including messaging across media, social platforms, and stakeholder materials.
* Drive community engagement efforts, including public consultations, to build trust and address concerns.
* Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, such as project teams, government bodies, and contractors, to ensure timely and accurate communication.
* Manage issues and crisis communication, offering expert advice to senior leadership and maintaining a strong public image.
* Monitor and evaluate communication efforts, report on engagement outcomes, and mentor junior communication staff.
Communications Officer
* Research and draft high-quality written materials, including ministerial and executive correspondence, media statements, and briefing notes.
* Provide timely communications advice and support to regional staff using appropriate tools and channels.
* Support stakeholder and community engagement during project development and delivery to ensure effective relationship outcomes.
* Maintain and update regional web content to reflect current initiatives and activities.
* Deliver training and guidance to staff and consultants to enhance communication practices and stakeholder engagement efforts.
The Candidate
* Experience in similar communication and community engagement roles preferably within infrastructure, construction, or government sectors.
* International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) Certification, or a willingness to obtain certification independently. Mandatory for Senior position.
* You will be a strategic thinker, proactive, and can navigate complex issues.
* A degree in a related field would be highly advantageous but not mandatory.
* Understanding of Infrastructure Sustainability Council or Australia framework and how it applies to infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
* Strong writing, editing and presentation skills.
* Current Class ‘C’ Drivers Licence.
