The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. About the role
The Test Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and functionality of digital solutions supporting departmental transformation initiatives. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test strategies, plans, scenarios, cases, and automated scripts to validate application performance, functionality, and overall readiness for product releases and business go-lives.
Key Accountabilities
Oversee testing and quality assurance across multiple projects, designing and executing test scenarios aligned with digital strategy objectives and privacy standards. Develop and implement test plans for application sprints, create test cases, log results, and manage defect tracking and re-testing processes with clear traceability. Track performance metrics, conduct load and vulnerability testing, and ensure security compliance for all solutions. Develop guidance on test strategy within a DevSecOps framework, document test cases, and produce quality reports to support system performance improvements. Work closely with the Microsoft suite development teams and business analysts to align testing with sprint planning and release management. Coordinate diagnostics and automated testing, presenting findings to stakeholders to inform decision-making. Research and integrate industry standards and best practices to continuously enhance testing protocols and processes. To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
Experience in developing test strategies and plans in line with business requirements, technical design, and solution. Execute tests (functional/non-functional), record all results, and generate test reports for review with the development team and relevant stakeholders. Work with business teams to prepare user acceptance testing plans. Demonstrated knowledge and skillset in defect management and use of tools (e.g., Azure DevOps). Experience with test automation and testing products (e.g., Selenium, Appium, Playwright, Python) in CI/CD release management. Experience working in government or similar complex corporate enterprise digital and IT projects and/or technical support structures, delivering solutions and testing regimes utilizing various tools and methodologies, including Agile and hybrid. Demonstrated and sound conceptual and analytical skills to identify issues and develop appropriate solutions to solve problems, as well as align and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of technical solutions. Demonstrated strong and highly developed communication and organisational skills. Able to work within strict deadlines and collaborate with team members. Mandatory requirements
