Currently, we have been retained to recruit a General Manager for our global client, a member of a large Japanese group.
They design, manufacture, and distribute advanced hydraulic technologies/products servicing the transport, industrial, and mobile hydraulics sectors.
Our client has global manufacturing and distribution footprints with a strong history of over 100 years.
Role Summary: Reporting to the Global CEO, this available role of General Manager offers full P/L responsibility for Australian operations.
In addition to executing a vision for growth using strategic thinking, you will formulate policies and strategic business development plans for expansion.
Working closely with the existing management team, you will manage all business-related activities to ensure goals are achieved.
This includes, but is not limited to, strategic planning, budgeting, sales and goal setting, overseeing day-to-day operations, staff development, improving efficiency, enhancing revenue, and maintaining relationships with customers while enhancing the organization's image.
This role is ideally suited for a sales-oriented leader with high commercial acumen within the manufacturing engineering sector.

Key Requirements Executing a vision for growth using strategic thinking.Formulating policies and strategic business development plans for growth.Developing and maintaining budgets while optimizing expenses.Working with leadership teams to develop plans to meet future needs.Planning, directing, and coordinating operations in support of the company's growth.Managing daily operations including engineering, sales and marketing, finance, and administration.Improving operational efficiency in customer engagement.Attracting and retaining high-quality staff to achieve sales, profitability, market share, and business plan objectives.Maintaining efficient team structures and performance.Developing guidelines for personnel evaluations, staff advancement, and recruitment procedures.Formulating training and incentive plans.Maintaining profit margins in all areas according to established objectives.Maintaining high levels of communication on all phases of operations.Evaluating and improving operations and financial performance.Ensuring staff follow health and safety regulations.Reviewing and improving organizational effectiveness by developing processes, overseeing employees, establishing a highly motivated and engaging work environment, and creating innovative approaches for improvement.Qualifications Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Economics, or Business (MBA or equivalent preferred).Preferred Skills: Demonstrable experience working successfully at a senior level within an engineering-based environment.Sales orientation with high commercial acumen.Experience with manufacturing and sourcing internationally.Experience of ISO processes and audits.Demonstrable success in turning around key performance indicators such as safety, quality, productivity, on-time delivery, inventory turns, etc.Demonstrable success in maintaining excellent employee relations.Strong analytical skills; ability to evaluate complex issues often with incomplete information and devise effective, workable solutions.Effective organization and planning skills.Excellent written, oral communication, and numerical skills.Competent IT skills commensurate with the role.Personal Attributes: Ability to motivate and lead a workforce while holding employees accountable.Ability to prioritize workload.Demonstrable ability to handle a range of activities to tight and varied timescales.Motivated to achieve the requirements and demands of the role.Effective team player. #J-18808-Ljbffr
