Just imagine the impact you could make!What’s your role?The Engagement and Contracting Manager role significantly contributes to the value proposition by negotiating appropriate, quality services and establishing risk management strategies to support the goal of sustainable affordability with contracted hospital providers. The position is accountable for negotiating with an allocated portfolio of hospital providers, managing benefit outlay (including negotiated indexation) within the annual operating budget, and for managing our provider relationships. It also supports implementation of appropriate systems and controls, including agreed actions from the governance uplift program.This role is also accountable for ensuring the ongoing development and maintenance of relationships with their allocated portfolio of hospital providers including regular formal and informal engagement with providers to surface and resolve issues early, identify streamline opportunities and embed stronger, deeper relationships. It will also work with the Head of Strategic Partnerships & Innovation to support agreed initiatives with strategic partnerships and exploration of new models of care.What will my day involve?Developing and implementing effective negotiating strategies with customer outcomes at the heart of the negotiations for their allocated portfolio of hospital providers.Developing and maintaining effective relationships with allocated hospital providers and their leadership teams with regular contract review programs in place across their portfolio.Ensuring the appropriate management of all relationships and associated benefit outlay (including signalling early any concerns that affect claim reserving or AOP assumptions) for hospital providers within the allocated portfolio.Problem solving and liaising with the Health Insurance claims teams on complex hospital/medical claims and resolution of complex payment or claiming issues.Supporting implementation of appropriate governance and reporting structures, and ensuring appropriate controls are in place to effectively manage contract-related risks.Working with Administration Support Officers to ensure Bupa’s databases accurately reflect current hospital stakeholders and contractual terms to enable claims processing and member experience.Working in partnership with providers to lead to better outcomes for the customer, the provider and Bupa.Driving and influencing necessary industry and health service delivery reform.Providing leadership and effective internal and industry stakeholder management.Other responsibilities as directed by the Senior Manager - Private Hospitals.You may also carry out any other duties reasonably requested by Bupa from time to time.What will I bring?Working knowledge of Casemix Funding Systems.Deep understanding of the private and public health care systems and industries and the related regulatory environments.Significant experience (10+ years) in a hospital environment and negotiation of complex and high-value contracts with large enterprise organisations and ongoing contract management disciplines.Proven ability in partnership & alliance negotiation and understanding of negotiation strategies and scenario planning.A track record of achievement and delivery in relevant commercial field with previous experience in public health environments advantageous.Excellent stakeholder management (internal/external) and ability to build strong business relationships at a senior level and able to identify business development opportunities for Bupa with Hospital groups.Deep understanding of business planning and managing outcomes against both target and forecast and experience of working with actuarial teams would be an advantage.Demonstrated ability to rapidly build relationships with key stakeholders, working across complex organisational structures.Tertiary qualifications are desirable and skills or training in business management, health service or related disciplines.Proven capacity to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences – including gathering requirements and presenting results.High attention to detail, and ability to analyse complex business processes, articulate issues constructively, simplify pros and cons, and make recommendations to facilitate visible decision-making.Exceptional written and presentation skills and the ability to convert data into insight and prepare compelling, persuasive reports and presentations suitable for executive and board level content.What’s in it for you?As well as a competitive salary, a range of Bupa benefits and flexible working/work from home, you’ll be challenged and encouraged to innovate.
