About the organisation:
Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT is dedicated to empowering girls and young women to grow into confident, self-respecting, responsible community members. They support the policies and principles of Volunteering Australia as agreed by Girl Guides Australia (GGA).
Role Overview:
Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join as Treasurer. This voluntary board role involves updating the Board on financial, property, and audit matters, ensuring sound financial policies are developed and implemented to maintain the financial sustainability of Guiding in NSW, ACT & NT. The Treasurer will serve as the Chair of the Finance Committee and a Director of the Board and work closely with the Chief Financial Officer.
Essential criteria:
* Experience as Chair of the Finance Committee and a Director of the Board.
* An excellent understanding of Accounting Standards and their application to not-for-profit organisations.
* Advanced knowledge of financial systems, processes, and reporting.
* Strong understanding of investment management and financial products.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* CA/CPA or equivalent accounting/finance qualifications (highly desirable).
* Commitment to the mission and principles of Guiding in NSW, ACT, NT, and Australia.
Time Commitment:
* Three years, with the possibility of a two-year extension upon mutual agreement
* Monthly Finance Committee meetings (February to November)
* Bi-monthly Board meetings
* Ad-hoc special meetings
* Twice yearly face-to-face Board strategy meetings
* Annual General Meeting (AGM)
* Other development and planning meetings as needed
Remuneration:
This is a voluntary, unpaid role. Reasonable accommodation and meals for face-to-face meetings will be covered by the Association.
