Posting introduction
With ambitious growth targets, RWE Renewables expects to manage an increasing portfolio of major Wind, Solar and Battery storage projects in Australia.
This is an exciting opportunity to be a key part of the team responsible for the outcome of these projects from the final investment decision (FID) through to commercial operations (COD), in a safe, timely, high quality and on-budget manner, including handing over the finished Project to RWE Operations
Your tasks
Reporting to the Head of Construction (Australia), you will be allocated to a mixture of Projects in both Construction and Development
You will also be encouraged to integrate with the wider team and contribute to Department and Company initiatives.
You will be expected to be involved in a wide range of different activities, applying experience and competence in the following works.
Pre Construction Phase :
1. Discharge of Planning Conditions / Permit Requirements – working with Development
2. Specification writing – with Engineering
3. Tender assessment – with Procurement
4. Contract negotiation – with Procurement / Legal
5. Project planning including Time / Budgets / Quality and HSE
6. Risk management including mitigation strategies
7. Recruitment of Project team – internal and external
8. Capex estimates and contributions to Board Approval process
Construction Phase :
Leading the internal Project team, (or with significant responsibilities as part of a larger Project team), you will be directly responsible for the successful outcome of the Project including the following activities :
9. Contract management of Turbine and Balance of Plant Contracts during design, manufacture, installation and commissioning.
10. Contract management of Grid works.
11. Chairing Progress, Technical and other Meetings
12. Management and supervision of Consultants and Site personnel.
13. External Stakeholder management to include Local Liaison / Landowners / Council or Municipalities / Drainage Boards etc.,
14. Internal Stakeholder management including with RWER Board.
15. Active HSE and QA management
16. Project planning including tracking and delay mitigation
17. Project reporting including Time / Budget / Risk / Quality and HSE.
18. Handing over to Operations and project wrap up including Lessons Learned / Continuous Improvement
Your profile
19. Successfully completed university studies in Engineering, (typically Civil / Electrical or Mechanical) or other related discipline.
20. Approximately 5-10 years of relevant experience within project management / construction, ideally within the Renewable or Energy sector.
21. Excellent communication with fluent professional English required.
22. Good Project Management, leadership and strong interpersonal skills
23. Team player.
24. Flexibility and willingness to learn new skills
25. Knowledge of Australian HSE regulations and standards
26. MS Office tools proficient user, including MS Project
27. Willingness to travel
