City of Canada Bay Council’s values underpin how we operate: We act with integrity; We empower our people; We are respectful; We work together; We innovate.About the PositionCity of Canada Bay Council is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Landscape Architect to join the Planning & Recreation team in the Open Space department within our City Assets directorate.Key Accountabilities:Coordinating and overseeing the design and management of landscape architecture projects from concept development through construction.Provide leadership and mentoring to support the professional development of Landscape Architects in the team.Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including planners, engineers, and environmental specialists, to integrate landscape architecture principles into broader urban planning initiatives.Conduct site assessments, analyse environmental conditions, and develop creative solutions that address ecological, social, and aesthetic considerations.Prepare comprehensive design documents, including plans, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates, using industry-standard software.Engage with community members, stakeholders, and elected officials to solicit feedback, build consensus, and ensure that project goals align with community needs and priorities.Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in landscape architecture and urban design.Tertiary qualifications in Landscape Architecture, or equivalent with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a Senior Landscape Architect role, and eligible for Associate membership to the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA).Demonstrated experience in the successful delivery of high-quality and innovative broad-ranging public landscape projects, including landscape design, community consultation, and documentation.Proven project management skills, including programming and coordination, budget control, preparation of tenders, contract administration, consultant briefs, and grant applications experience.Demonstrated computer literacy, including ability to utilise AutoCAD, Vectorworks (CAD), Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PMO365) databases, and project management (Microsoft Project) software.Demonstrated ability to prepare high-quality presentations and drawings.Demonstrated sound understanding of Landscape Architectural issues.Demonstrated sound understanding of environmental and sustainable design principles.Sound leadership skills including the mentoring and coaching of staff.High level written and verbal English communication skills as well as demonstrated skills in problem solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution.Demonstrated working knowledge of Local Government and Crown Land Legislation in relation to Parks and Open Space.Current Class C Driver’s Licence.What’s on offerThis position comes with a salary range of $115,560.42 - $132,894.48 + Super + Leaseback Vehicle/Car Allowance Option.The City of Canada Bay also offers excellent employee benefits which include:Rostered Days Off (participation in a 9-day fortnight scheme)A range of flexible work arrangements including hybrid work from home arrangements18 weeks paid parental leaveA supportive, energetic, and passionate teamSignificant leave benefits (9-day fortnight, 15 days sick/personal leave, 2 days health and wellbeing leave per year, access to Long Service leave after 5 years)Continuous training, support, and leadership developmentHealth and Wellbeing programs (Yoga classes, Fitness Passport, Flu vaccinations, Skin Cancer Checks)And much, much more!Want to know more?Further information regarding the requirements of this role can be found in the attached Position Description here, alternatively for a confidential discussion please contact Petrina Nelson, Manager Open Space on 02 9911 6328.How to applyCandidates MUST apply online by clicking 'begin' below.
