The Role Reporting directly to the Managing Partner, the Senior Employment Lawyer will play a foundational role in rebuilding and shaping the firm’s employment law offering. The position is based in either Sydney or Brisbane and will focus on providing end-to-end advisory and litigation services across a broad range of employment matters. Key responsibilities include: Advising multinational and local clients on complex employment and industrial relations issues, including compliance, restructures, contracts, dismissals, and conduct matters. Drafting and reviewing employment contracts, policies, handbooks, and settlement agreements. Managing workplace investigations and internal review processes. Acting in employment disputes across state and federal jurisdictions. Supporting corporate teams on employment-related aspects of M&A transactions. Advising on immigration and employee sponsorship matters. Contributing to business development and internal capability-building within the employment practice. The Candidate The successful candidate will be a driven and experienced employment law specialist with at least 5 years' post-admission experience. They will demonstrate strong technical skills, commercial acumen, and an entrepreneurial mindset to take ownership of client relationships and contribute to the practice’s development. To be considered, candidates should have: 5 years PAE in employment law, preferably in a leading national or international firm. Experience advising corporate clients on both contentious and non-contentious employment matters. Strong drafting and communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously. A proactive approach to business development and client engagement. An interest in building a practice from the ground up with long-term growth in mind.
