Duties Under the general supervision of the Manager – Policy and Monitoring, the Senior Policy Officer will in accordance with legal and statutory requirements, assist the Commissioner for Children by providing high level strategic advice on a broad range of issues pertaining to the promotion and protection of the rights of children and young people in Tasmania with a particular focus on monitoring the provision of Out of Home Care (OOHC) in Tasmania.
Engage with a range of stakeholders including government, the community sector and children and young people.
Period of Appointment ASAP for 12 months

Essential Requirements Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status – Employment) The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer.
The following checks are to be conducted: Conviction checks in the following areas: crimes of violence sex related offences serious drug offences crimes involving dishonesty serious traffic offences Identification check Disciplinary actions in previous employment check Desirable Requirements Tertiary qualifications in law, child welfare, psychology or similar will be regarded highly.
