Shutdown Quality Engineer is responsible for overseeing quality assurance and control processes during planned shutdowns and maintenance projects at the coal mining site. This includes ensuring that all shutdown activities meet safety, environmental, and quality standards, and that all equipment and processes are restored to full operational integrity upon completion of shutdown work What you will do: Working with the Design Manager to ensure adequate resources in document control to meet project requirements; Developing, reviewing and maintaining, document control systems and procedures within the general standards of the company and specific project standards; Providing training, supervision and instructing to document control personnel;• Monitoring project registers and information systems in respect of correspondence; and• establishing systems to ensure information complies with specified format and standards Work closely with the shutdown and maintenance teams to develop and review shutdown plans. Prepare quality control documentation, including inspection and test plans (ITPs), procedures, and checklists. Ensure that materials, spare parts, and services meet quality specifications before shutdown activities begin. Supervise and conduct quality inspections of equipment during disassembly, maintenance, and reassembly. Ensure adherence to industry standards, such as ISO, ASME, and applicable regulations. Monitor welding, repairs, coating applications, and other critical shutdown activities to ensure compliance with quality standards. Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) and ensure that all testing activities are documented and meet required specifications. Maintain comprehensive records of all quality inspections, test results, and certifications. Prepare detailed reports on quality control activities, including any deviations from planned quality procedures. Submit final quality reports to the shutdown management team to ensure that all work meets safety, environmental, and operational standards. Ensure that all shutdown activities are conducted in compliance with safety regulations, including risk assessments and safety audits. Promote continuous improvement in shutdown quality and safety processes. Participate in root cause analysis for any failures or defects discovered during the shutdown process. Verify that all equipment is safe and operational before the site is returned to normal operation. Participate in post-shutdown reviews to identify areas for process improvement and increased efficiency for future shutdowns. What you will need: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality engineering, preferably in the mining or heavy industrial sector.
