About the position
Previously awarded Best Restaurant in a Hotel & Resort at the 2020 R&CA Savour Awards for Excellence, The Galley Kitchen is our bright and breezy all-day diner. Offering a seasonally changing menu featuring local produce and seafood, home to our signature sparkling wine breakfast, à la carte lunch and dinners, and decadent High Teas.
The Anchorage Catering team are currently looking for a full-time Breakfast /Demi Chef to join the team. This full-time position is key to our kitchen operations and will provide variety and exposure to all catering operations and career development.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Assist in food preparation and cooking under the guidance of our Executive Chef.
Contribute to the creation and execution of high-quality and visually appealing dishes.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, adhering to safety and hygiene standards.
Support the team during busy periods, ensuring smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
Learn and apply culinary techniques, recipes, and presentation methods.
Collaborate with colleagues to deliver a consistently exceptional dining experience for our guests.
Common shifts for this position will be 6:00 am - 2:00 pm covering the Buffet Breakfast and Lunch service. Our seasonal peaks run through summer, public holiday, and school holiday periods; availability during seasonal peaks is essential. This position will require availability across a 7-day roster, with evening and weekend availability essential. No split shifts are required in this opportunity.
Candidates will require a Cert III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent. Previous experience working with hotel buffet breakfast is highly advantageous. This role will also require you to complete a criminal check prior to commencement (cost covered by Wests).

The Executive Chef is eager to see applications from Chefs that have demonstrated experience in a restaurant and/or hotel background. With a team-oriented mentality, you will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be open-minded to learning. You will be committed to producing high-quality food items across a range of styles. You must have high standards of personal and kitchen hygiene. Preferably, you will have a current food safety certificate.
