The Role
HDR is looking for an experienced Associate Electrical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services (BES) team in Sydney. This position will be based out of our Sydney Office and will design, manage and supervise projects, working as part of a global engineering consultancy. In this role you will have the opportunity to carry out detailed design whilst assuming the role of design leader where required, coordinating with other engineering disciplines.
In the role of Associate Electrical Engineer, we’ll count on you to:
1. Assist Group Leader with monitoring engineering/CAD resource requirement for each project within your control.
2. Carry out engineering concept design to detailed design, tender and contract on site supervision, to completion, ensuring projects are undertaken in accordance with design briefs and that completion deadlines are achieved.
3. Liaise with the design team to produce co-ordinated designs that are technically compliant, to a consistent quality and standard.
4. Provide positive contribution to design/project meetings.
5. Maintain regular ‘in house’ design reviews and checks.
6. Monitor and control project progress, design variations and project financial budgets.
7. Monitor contract staff or third-party appointments.
8. Maintain excellent client and design team relationships to achieve high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
9. Pursue new business opportunities where appropriate with existing and new clients.
10. Assist Group Leader with identifying and implementing your personal training/CPD requirements.
11. Participate in Site Works as required
12. Develop and maintain good relations with the various industry networks, clients, government agencies, sub-consultants and construction contractors relevant to the MEP team’s activities.
13. Assist and co-ordinate design activities, processes and other technical standards within the MEP and CSA services.
14. Undertake technical reviews of the project at appropriate stages to ensure that the project approach and deliverables are achieved.
15. Actively participate in broader Office/Corporate activities as assigned or appropriate.
16. Perform other duties as directed.
Preferred Qualifications
17. Mission Critical Design / Data Centre Design Experience is an added advantage.
18. Consulting experience is a must.
19. Familiar with Electrical proprietary software such as ETAP, Vipcodia, Power Cad etc is an added advantage.

Required Qualifications
20. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
21. A minimum of 10 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems);
22. Professional Engineer (PE) license
23. Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting and signal design, including life safety systems and building management systems
24. Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, and electrical design software
25. An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
